AED group has invested in 400 units of Claypaky’s brand-new Ultimo Sharpy. The first 240 fixtures have already arrived at AED’s logistics hub in Willebroek and are heading straight into their debut production, with the remaining units to follow shortly. The move underscores the long-standing partnership between the entertainment-technology companies based in Willebroek and Bergamo.
The Sharpy is an icon in entertainment lighting. When the first-generation model launched, AED Rent deployed well over 2200 units, and Claypaky recognized that milestone with a unique Golden Sharpy presented to AED.
Today’s investment brings the story full circle as the Ultimo version reimagines the classic for modern touring, broadcast, and outdoor use.
What’s new in Sharpy Ultimo — and how it builds on a legend
Together, these upgrades give designers the signature Sharpy punch with modern necessities - CMY, IP66, more output, and infinite pan—while keeping the compact form factor crews love.
“The first-generation Sharpy was a phenomenon for AED and our customers", says Steven Mansvelt, Managing Director at AED Rent. "We invested in well over 2,200 fixtures and Claypaky marked that milestone with a Golden Sharpy. Ultimo Sharpy respects that heritage and moves it forward with higher output, CMY, and true outdoor readiness. We believe it will become a new reference on tour and on set, which is why we’re investing at scale: 400 units, with the first 240 immediately shipping into production from our Willebroek hub.”
